Mr Baker, from Glebe, won the light-heavyweight masters (over 40) division of the Ringside World Championships - the biggest amateur boxing tournament in the world - in Kansas, USA in August 2013.

He has trained at the Elouera-Tony Mundine Gym in Redfern for the past decade and attributes much of his success to trainer Alex Tui and a childhood deception.

"When I was a kid I used to sneak off to the Police Boys Club because I wasn't allowed to box," he said.

"I wasn't in the football team but I told my mum that I was so I could go to the club.

"The guys used to hammer me but then I got on to it a bit and started to hammer them and they left me alone then."
